Azrik
"Your past does not create you.
Your actions are what shape you."
It's too hoooooot, Nicla whined, both aloud and mentally.

If you complain about the heat again...! Azrik didn't bother finishing her threat. Despite the pelt that covered her body, she wasn't bothered by the heat of the gorge. No, what she was really bothered by - the whole reason behind being so cross with Nicla in the first place - was the fact that as soon as Syrilth had landed and let her and her companion down, her bobbing light had zipped away from the mare. She hadn't even had enough time for a proper goodbye! Just a hasty thank you thrown over her shoulder as she chased after the light, afraid to lose it in such an unfamiliar place.

Thankfully, the orb had slowed down as they wove through the jagged obsidian spikes, hovering at eye level only a foot away from her. Or so it had been a moment ago. Azrik stopped abruptly, Nicla bumping into her legs, and looked wide-eyed at the sudden edge in front of her. Carefully, the filly poked her head over the edge and searched for her guide. It zoomed back up the hidden path it had gone down to her left, twirling around and between her ears before heading down once more.

It did this several times before seeming put out that she didn't automatically follow like she had before. The light nudged at her nose, her legs, even at Nicla for a second before the pup snapped at it in fear. It returned to eye level and grew brighter then dark, as if it had sighed, and simply floated there. "Sorry," she whispered to it in apology. Golden eyes tore themselves away from the edge and found relative safety at the sight of the path. "I don't like going down something so steep."

For good reason, Nicla comforted, rubbing her head against Azrik's legs. She let out a comforting, raspy puppy growl. It took a moment, but the pup seemed to decide that she would have to be the brave one this time. Taking slow but confident steps down the path, she urged Azrik to follow her.

It was slow going. The light kept close to the two of them, content to let them find their way in their own time. They did eventually reach the bottom, at which point Azrik turned her head to look once more at the orb of light instead of her hooves. "Where do we go from here?"
"She speaks." | She thinks.

The moment she had landed, the filly seemed to have bounded off no thanks to the light that guided her.  Syrilth's remained calm and she nearly went after the filly if it weren't for some lava spraying to the far right.  It was such a familiar sight.  Where had this place been in Elysium?  If she had come here at first, she wouldn't have met Isolde, nor - no, she had to push it back.

Especially when a filly was going farther and farther!  "Hey!" she called out late before cantering after the young one.  The filly was no where to be seen but thankfully, the light led her towards the filly. Just how long was she staring at the lava?! It felt like any second, any dragons would appear. Actual dragons. Syrilth went into a canter before galloping outright and leapt off the cliff, her wings already spanning out so that she could glide. Down, down she went. "Hey, don't just go where you want in this! You need to be careful!" It was a bit of grumbling and lecturing, something that she never got to experience with her own foal. Unlike her kind, the foal probably didn't have some immunity to the flames here. The light that guided her grabbed her attention to a cavern that was free of lava and she turned her head to Azik. Was she really here to watch over this filly whom had a wolf?

"Come on, this way!" Syrilth lowered her head as she gathered her wings against her. It wasn't too tight but going in her full height would end up in a funny yet embarrassing situation. Something that the filly would probably laugh and laugh forever on end.

Azrik
"Your past does not create you.
Your actions are what shape you."
The sudden admonishment had both younglings flinch, though Azrik visibly brightened at the sight of Syrilth. "You're going the same way!" she exclaimed cheerfully. Nicla grumbled under her breath but sighed and followed her filly when she moved after Syrilth's orb of light. Azrik's own joined it with a cheerful bounce in its flight that wasn't unlike the filly's prance. The light cheekily brushed against the other one before darting into the cavern, throwing shadows around the cavern as it waiting, quivering, in place.

Azrik poked her head in cautiously, taking Syrilth's words to heart. It seemed clear, and her light seemed to have used up all its patience on the way down as it zipped around the cavern. The sight made her giggle and move inward. Wait! Nicla cautioned, pausing. Syrilth still has to squeeze through. The pup's voice was entertained as she turned to watch the large mare enter. Both giggled under their breaths. However, like all young ones, they were easily distracted; the light pulsed and bopped them both on the nose before weaving through the stalactites and stalagmites.

"Come on!" Azrik urged the mare. "Keep up!" Already she had forgotten Syrilth's words of warning. She wasn't paying attention to where she was stepping, and as such ended up tripping over the stones on the ground. Azrik went sprawling to the sound of Nicla's alarmed yelp and frantic questions on if she was okay. Burning with embarrassment, the filly rose quickly to her hooves and shook herself. I'm fine, "I'm fine," she reassured them, mentally and aloud.

Whoa, was Nicla's response.

Azrik turned to see what she was staring at. Golden eyes went wide at the sight of the ruins before them, a stark contrast to the natural formations around them. "Whoa," she echoed. Abruptly, she wiggled in place and turned in excited circles. "That's so cool! Look at it, its so big! C'mon, I bet this is what the moon-ghost was talking about!" She started forward once again after the light that had guided her so far.
"She speaks." | She thinks.

The impatience the filly showed to get a move on made Syrilth grunt as she managed to squeeze herself front half before her lower half.  Her wings brushed against the sides but it was just a tickling sensation - one she didn't like.  Syrilth nearly shivered before pressing on.  "I'm not small as you."  Finally with the last tug, she was in.  Well...sort of.  Her horns got stuck a little right as the filly tripped.  "Hey!  Are you okay?"  She pulled and pulled to get free and her patience was finally growing thin.  Tsk...damn tunnel, just how small were the equines back then?!"   With an irritated growl, Syrilth pulled back while turning her head and lowered it even more.

She rushed over to the filly as she tried to assure Syrilth she was fine.  Syrilth, being herself, looked over the filly carefully as much as the tunnel allowed her.  Trying to escape through this when in trouble would be problematic.  As she watched the filly run in circles, Syrilth knew she didn't need to worry.  Then she finally set her eyes on the ruins ahead and Syrilth's eyes widened.  The tunnels laid about were....glowing?!  And yes, big, just as the filly celebrated about it.  Being ushered forward made Syrilth follow the filly towards it.   As she got closer, the wisp began to float around in excitement while glowing.  "Now...where do we even go?"

They could go in any passage and the wisp she had had disappeared.  Of course, there was no way this would be easy.

The lights that guided you here fade into nothing, and all that's left is a number of dark passages.

Something is happening! Dice roll for Azrik : 6 - you're successful! a little way in front of you flutters what first appears to be a simple sheet of burgundy fabric, but on closer inspection you realise it's made out of fire! Yet, strangely, it doesn't seem to feel hot. In fact, the treasure you have discovered is a cloak - a cape of sorts - made out of flames themselves but enchanted so that they cannot harm you. The cape will keep you warm no matter how cold the weather is, yet it cannot harm you or anyone else. You'll shortly receive an item as proof of your discovery of the treasure!
Dice roll for Syrilth: 4 - no treasure just yet, keep going and maybe the treasure will find you!
Proof: azrik & syrilth

She had followed into the ruins but at some point and another, she was met with a dead end.  With a snort, she turned but saw Azrik was no where to be found.  How strange.  Was it a magical place?  It had to be what with all the being was that gathered them and how Azrik just disappeared without any warning.  "Hey, are you okay?!" she called out, hoping the ruins weren't so well built to carry her voice to the filly.

Syrilth went back the way she came, hoping to find a way to...wherever the filly was.  Or at least where she was supposed to be at.  The light was gone and it was up to her to find the way again.  A sigh escaped her.  "This space is too tight," she grumbled while her horns dragged on the ceiling even though she was still leaning her head down.  As she turned, she got stuck and let out a frustrated neigh.  Her patience was now growing thinner.  "I'll plow through the walls if I have to.  I'll find a way if I need to."  Was it done on purpose?  She was far too tall for this crap!

She pulled herself free and managed decided to go to the tunnel opening next to the very far right one.  It better lead her to the treasure else she was going to make all the walls go away at this rate.

Azrik
"Your past does not create you.
Your actions are what shape you."
Even as she followed her guiding light, it faded away from her view. Everything got suddenly dark, even the previously glowing tunnel that she had been in. Azrik froze in fear; Nicla let out a small whimper. Both turned to face Syrilth, only to find that they had wandered much further than they had realized and the mare was no where to be seen. The filly strained to hear but something had to have been blocking her hearing. All she could find were her and her companion's breathing.

The ruins aren't very fun anymore, she whined to Nicla. The pup pressed against her legs and turned to face where they were heading before the light disappeared.

Might as well - Look! The pup shot off into the dark.

"Wait -" but the dark wasn't quite so dark anymore. Up ahead something fluttered in a breeze she couldn't feel, but it wasn't until she met with Nicla at the cloak of fire that it wasn't a breeze. The flames were just eternally flickering, emitting a heat that was almost stifling in the heat around them. Ooooooooh this is so cool! She inched her muzzle forward, flinching back when a flame licked out to touch the end of her nose. Huh?

Nicla pawed at her leg until she looked down. It didn't hurt you, she noted, puzzled.

Azrik giggled, pressing her face into the flames. I noticed. The heat managed to still be just below too much, and she moved to examine it more closely. "It's a cape!" Golden eyes turned to examine her body with a pout. But what about my pelt?

The pup at her feet snorted, turning her head and using her teeth to open the satchel that had so far remained empty. Put it in here, silly. Azrik's tail flicked in excitement as she picking up the cape and dropped it half-in the satchel. Both had to work to get it all in and closed once more, but Nicla remarked that it felt barely any lighter than before.

Let's go find Syrilth.

-x-

The two had wandered for a while until Azrik's ear flicked. She immediately turned and followed the sound of echoing footsteps, nearly leaving Nicla behind as the pup scrambled to keep up. "Syrilth!" she called in delight, barely catching sight of the mare in the darkness ahead. She trotted down the tunnel and started babbling about how she had been scared, so suddenly alone, where did she go, was she okay, both her and Nicla were fine, and look, Nicla open the satchel, look what I found, isn't it so cool?
"She speaks." | She thinks.

Syrilth - that pesky cape! All that time, it was hiding down the other passage, and now it flutters mischievously in front of you! Finally there was a chamber where she could feel comfortable width wise.  The sudden appearance of a cloak fluttering down made Syrilth stop.  Her hooves grinded against the stone floor.  While the cloak could seem harmless, her training as a warrior made her stop and be cautious.  It was a dark red color, nearly like blood.  "Is this the treasure...?"  There was no light to be seen to tell her.  The cloak came down, whirled around her before settling upon her neck, as if sealing itself to her.  It felt warm.  Just as she was about to inspect it some more, the familiar voice of the filly echoed in the chamber.

Syrilth turned around and was met with the foal's babbling, how she was scared by being all alone and where did Syrilth go, wondering for her wellbeing and that Azrik and Nicla the wolf were fine and how she too found a cloak.   The endless babbling reminded her of a certain sea colored mare and Syrilth cracked a smile.

"There you are.  I was worried about you too.  I got one too." She moved to the left so Azrik could see a profile of it upon her tall frame.  "This will come in handy for the winter time, especially if another blizzard rolls in like last time."  That whiteout was the reason why she couldn't battle for the throne then.  It was a good idea not to anyway, her wings were too new then.

"Come on, you can tell me more when we find a way out."  Syrilth was really hoping the way back was easier what with how cramped it was for her.

Azrik
"Your past does not create you.
Your actions are what shape you."
"Ooooooh, pretty." Syrilth's cape was much darker than Azrik's own, closer to a bloody red rather than the near-orange hidden away in the satchel. At least the color seemed to compliment the mare's dark figure - nothing red or even orange would really look good against Azrik's coat. Not that the filly truly cared, however. "Wait, a blizzard?" Her head tilted curiously to the side. Does she mean like what we were trapped in?

Nicla shrugged, her full attention turned to the direction opposite of where she and Azrik had come from. Maybe, maybe not. Who cares? I'm ready to get out of here, it's starting to get too hot. As if to prove her point, she shook her coat out and began to pant. The temperature among the caverns and tunnels was too much for even the pup's coat that Nicla sported.

Azrik nudged her in concern but readily backed away when Nicla swatted at her. "Do you know where the exit is?" she asked Syrilth with that same concern still edging her voice. "I can't hear anything." Her pout said perfectly that she didn't like not knowing where to start. She had taken too many turns to really know where they began, even if she had managed to pay attention while moving.
"She speaks." | She thinks.
